My Philosophy About Food
I love food — and I hope I don’t sound too elitist here, but I don’t ooh and aah about everything that goes into my mouth, like some people.Â
Not all food is great or good for that matter.  For me to get excited about food, it has to be noteworthy, memorable, satisfying…
One explanation for why I am this way now is that I was not always this way. When I was a child, I ate everything and my body showed it. I was 50 pounds overweight by age 12.Â
At that age, I really did not know how to lose the weight on my own. I didn’t realize that my portion sizes were too big — and they were. Thank goodness that my mother signed me up for Weight Watchers - an organization founded only 10 years earlier.Â
Prior to the first meeting, I remember her taking me for my “last meal”. We stopped at a donut shop and I had two donuts. Interestingly enough, I can count on my 10 fingers the number of donuts I have had in the 35 years since that day. That started my education into what foods I really wanted to eat and put into my body.
I am proud to say that I am a lifetime Weight Watchers member, although I am currently over my goal by 10 pounds and at my age (in perimenopause) I am having a heck of a time losing it.Â
I know my problem now is that I need to increase my amount of exercise, because I can honestly say I have formed good eating habits and proudly credit Weight Watchers for giving me this skill. Â
The voice that I want to express in my posts here at CircleOfFood is one of sharing my experiences with food in the form of memories, hardships and successes.Â
I hope to do this through relating my personal experiences with restaurants, bed-and-breakfast overnights, travels, and every-day daily food challenges — all tied to healthy lifestyle choices.Â
Please add your two-cents worth. I am counting on your feedback. Together we can provide motivation for each other and others to reach our personal goals - whatever they are.
