3rd Annual AZ BBQ Festival – May 19, 20 – Scottsdale
Closed Published by Karyn Zoldan May 17th, 2012 in Food Festivals, Food for Thought, Food Organizations. The AZ BBQ Festival is held at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona! Set to become the biggest BBQ event in the state, this combined competition and food festival will take place on the sprawling grass fields outside the spring training home of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
BBQ teams will battle for $40,000 cash (the largest prize fund in AZ), while tons of the region’s top BBQ vendors dish out the best smoked meat you’ve ever tasted. There will be plenty of $2 competition samples to go around this year, too. Last year they ran out of samples but this year there are thousands of samples.
If you can’t make it Saturday, then bring the family on Sunday for a more picnic-style event.
100 pit-masters will be serving more than 100,000 $2 samples plus craft beer trucks, whiskey row tent, live music, kid zone, demos, and much more.
I was invited to become a certified BBQ judge last Sunday but was simply too busy to go to Scottsdale. I hope I have another opportunity as being a taco judge was a blast, blast, blast
Check out the “Event Info” tab for the full schedule.
Sounds like a blast.
