Hey Tucson restaurants and beyond: Is anyone hosting an Earth Dinner? I love this idea!

Over 80 chefs and restaurants across the U.S. have already signed up — the goal is 100. If you’re already hosting, thanks! If you aren’t yet, jump in.

Earth Dinners are a series of events designed to highlight your restaurant and all that you do to promote the use of local, sustainable and organic food on Earth Day – Sunday, April 22 – or during the preceding week of April 16-21. This series is brought to you by Organic Valley and the Chefs Collaborative.

Hosting an Earth Dinner is easy: Simply create the format that works best for you.

Last year, Jane Zieha of Bluebird Bistro in Kansas City, MO hosted a three-course dinner open to the public with two different price points so everyone could enjoy.

JJ Gonson of Cuisine en Locale in Cambridge, MA held a special ticketed dinner featuring all local ingredients, including strawberries preserved from the previous season and kale buds, and donated $25 from every ticket purchased.

Piper Davis of Grand Central Baking Company in Seattle, WA and Portland, OR donated a percentage of the day’s sales from all nine bakeries on Earth Day.

Earth Dinners are whatever you make of them, but whatever you do, know that your contributions go directly toward our work here at Chefs Collaborative. Organic Valley will make a matching donation of up to $10,000.
