Honk, if you’re craving the Midwest. No need to hop on a plane, just head over to Kingfisher Bar & Grill for a delicious array of appetizers, entrées, and desserts highlighting cuisine of the Midwest and Great Plains. The regional menu will be available from July 7 through July 23, 2009.
Just thinking about the Indiana classic grilled bratwurst a featured appetizer served with basil beer bread and home style beet mustard ($8) makes me homesick.
For an entrée, try out the rotisserie Indiana duck, a half duck in a roasted apple glaze with wild rice pilaf and braised caraway red cabbage, or the grilled walleye of Wisconsin’s North Woods, served with corn and wild rice fritters, hazelnut maple butter, and minted summer beans ($21 and $25, respectively).
As part of every road trip menu throughout the summer, a Tucson Originals summer dining special is included; pan fried lake perch, with green tomato chow-chow, dill mustard potato salad, and minted summer beans for the Originals’ entrée price of $20.09.
Save room for dessert –rustic plum tart or summer melon sorbet from pastry chef Marianne Banes ($8.5 and $5, respectively).
The Kingfisher summer road trip continues through September, with a new tour stop every two weeks. Other destination highlights include:
• Back East – July 24 – August 6
• California & Hawaii – August 7
• Down South – August 21 – September 6
Kingfisher is located at 2564 E. Grant Road, just east of Tucson Boulevard. For more information on the summer road trip or to make your reservation, please call 323-7739.
