Bend, Oregon’s Deschutes Brewery recently introduced its newest beer, Green Lakes Organic Ale. “We have always been committed to sustainability and see this new beer as a natural extension of our interest in doing things the best way possible,” said Deschutes Brewery founder Gary Fish.

Butter makes everything better or so I think. I grew up in a household devoid of butter. Instead we had that horrible oleo or vegetable margarine. The reason we had oleo was because I grew up in a kosher household where we could mix milk with meat so it was just easier to use oleo. [more...]

Favorite Coffee Mug

We all have a favorite coffee mug. Mine is green with dragonflies printed on the outside. I’ll even choose to use it when it is dirty, over getting a clean substitute (I only have one like it).


Nov. 24, 2007–According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, American Foods Group, LLC, a Green Bay, Wisc., firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 95,927 pounds of various coarse and fine ground beef products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
