Deep-Fried County Fair Food without Trans Fat
Published by Karyn Zoldan August 21st, 2007 in Comfort Foods, Family Dining, Food Travel Destinations, Junk Food, Summer.A walk down through the county fair is not for the faint of heart or weight watcher. Everything is battered and deep-friend — Oreos, Ho-Ho’s, Snickers, Milky Way, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups…even Pepsi.
But this year at the Great Indiana State Fair, all those deep-fried goodies are also free of trans fat.
This is practically unheard of. They’re still deep-fried so the calories are there but they are free of artery-clogging trans fat.
Apparently fair goers don’t miss the artery clogging fat either and vendors have to clean out their vats less because the oil cooks cleaner.
Which oil is used to deep fry chicken and not have trans fats???????
According to the article if you link to it, the article says (near the bottom)
His oil, made of soybeans, is trans-fat free as required.
There are lots of oils out there and some are the good oils and some not so good oils.
