Iceberg Head of Lettuce Safe to Hold Your Valuables
Published by Mary Johnson April 10th, 2007 in Kitchen Appliances. What a clever idea! You’ve heard of fake rocks and fake pop cans to hold valueables — now there is a fake head of lettuce to put in your refrigerator. It looks just like a real head of iceberg lettuce.
The only down side would seem to be that it would take up so much valuable space in your vegetable bin. If you are like me, my vegetable bin is packed to the gills after a fresh trip home from the grocery.

CoCo,
That is clever.
Just curious what kinds of vegetables are in the vegetable bin?
Do you go to farmers markets too?
Karyn, you know to have a “well-stocked” kitchen, you have to always have staples on-hand. As far as vegetables go, I consider the following to be staples: celery, carrots, onions, Romaine lettuce.
My husband likes things to be very fresh (an admirable quality) and uses them up quickly. I have yet to train him on writing it on the grocery list when he uses the last bit and inevitably, I don’t have any when I need it.
I, on the other hand, want convenience and don’t want to run to the grocery store before I prepare every meal. I don’t mind buying it when I immediately run out, knowing that I may not need it again for a week or so.
I used to include fresh garlic in this list, but I have converted to using prepared chopped garlic that comes in a jar. I just was not using the fresh garlic fast enough and it would dry up.
Additionally, I always have broccoli and cauliflower. Pair that with the occasional green pepper, radishes, parsnips, cherry tomatoes, and the vegetable bin fills up very quickly.
And no, I don’t frequent farmers markets. They are always an adventure when I do, but once again, I am into convenience and give me one-stop shopping every time.
