Since we can’t count on the dog food companies for dog food safety, try this easy treat recipe from the greyhound fundraising cookbook.

Fishy Squares

2 6 oz cans of undrained salmon, tuna, or mackerel in oil

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese shreds

2 eggs

1 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 cup oat bran

1 tablespoon dried parsley

pinch of garlic powder

Preheat oven to 350-degrees and line a 9×9-inch pan with aluminum foil then coat with a non-stick spray. Mix all ingredients including undrained fish in a food processor or blender until well combined and gooey. Spread into pan evenly.

If desired, sprinkle more cheese on top or some dried herbs like basil or oregano to improve the smell for the humans in the house. Bake 20 to 25 minutes until top is slightly brown and sides pull away from the pan. Slice into small squares and store in the refrigerator.

Thank you to Maryland Greyhound Rescue for allowing me to print the recipes. All proceeds from the sale of the cookbook goes toward helping retired racing greyhounds in Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. find new homes. Let a greyhound race into your heart!
