Rhonda, yes I remember the lime soda, but I don't remember drinking it.

Since you are from Cincinnati, I have to ask you if you are related to Cash D. Amburgey? I remember his TV/radio commercials about his furniture store in South Lebanon Ohio.

If so, what is the history behind that store and what ever happened to it?

Mary,

I am from Cincinnati too. Do you remeber Barqs Lime soda? It was a treat for me, especially when we where able to walk to the family Pony Keg, this is what the store in my neighborhood was called. The soda was in a hobnail bottle and the taste was so good. I also remember getting Neccos and other penny candy there also. Those were the days!!

Dear Right,
Thanks for sending us to HomeTown Favorites. I see some foods from my past that I often crave like Necco's candy and Hershey's Syrup.

My grandmother used to drink Swee-Touch-Nee tea in a glass so I will definitely order some of that.

I was reading the website and they suggest to order these old time foods for birthdays. That is a great idea.

http://www.hometownfavorites.com/shop/candy_cat_js.asp?c=21 Your Tab is there! Plus some chocolate drinks that might create a memory too!

Hard to find groceries, candy, soda pop.
Stuff you didn't think existed anymore.
Enjoy.

Remember Barq's cream soda? Oh, maybe that is a regional drink (Cincinnati, Ohio area). I used to see it advertised on the Uncle Al TV show by Captain Wendy -- this is back in the 60's.

Barq's also had a root beer and Captain Wendy, during her live commercial, would make a "Black Cow" -- an ice cream drink where you pour the root beer over several scoops of vanilla ice cream. Yum.

I also remember a chocolate drink that tasted like chocolate milk, but wasn't. Can't remember what it is called.

TAB also was a big drink -- the first diet cola that I can recall. I don't see it around these days. I can't remember if it was made by Coke or Pepsi (Coke, I think.) Boy, I lived off of that stuff -- drinking two 16 oz. bottles a day.
