Like wine clubs, the wine flight is all the rage and when you think about it, wine flights make sense.
A 2-ounce pour of three different wines allows you to broaden your wine spectrum by comparison and education.
Some restaurants define the flight of wine while others let you choose your own. For white wine, you might ask for pino grigio, chenin blanc, and sauvignon blanc or substitute a chardonnay. Or try three different chardonnays.
The same can be said for red wines. Try a flight of wine for syrah, pinot noir, and cabernet, or merlot. I know you pinot noir snobs won’t drink merlot but there are some pretty decent merlots on the market.
Or live dangerously and try three deadly zins for as your wine flight. Now that would rock for me as I love a good zinfandel. Even a bad zin is better than some good merlots.
And if you order a second glass of wine, pick the pour you liked the best. Now that I think about it, I wish food was served in a similar fashion.
