Since 2004, RA Sushi has supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with a week-long fundraising campaign called Nicky’s Week. The fundraising event honored the life of Nicholas Mailliard, who lost his battle with pediatric cancer in 2005 at the age of 13. Nicky was the nephew of Rich Howland, one of RA Sushi’s founders.
The buck doesn’t stop there.
Fast forward to 2018: RA Sushi has introduced a new year-long effort to help St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital fight childhood cancer. When certain St. Jude menu items are selected, RA Sushi will donate $2 to St. Jude’s lifesaving work. The three featured menu items are: mango shrimp roll, RA’ckin shrimp tacos and coconut crème brule .
Each year in the U.S. there are an estimated 15,780 children between the ages of birth and 19 years who are diagnosed with cancer. For more information, visit rasushi.com and stjude.org. In Tucson you can find RA Sushi at 2901 Skyline Drive in La Encantada Shopping Center.
Circle of Food loves this kind of restaurant generosity. It’s a win-win for both diners and St. Jude Hospital.
