Have you ever tasted butter chicken? Circle of Food had never heard of butter chicken until I tasted the dish at Indian Twist. Supposedly the recipe here came directly from the chef who invented it. Picture tender chicken bathed in a rich red creamy-like sauce bursting with flavor. This lush sauce is something I wish I could’ve taken home and smeared on toast, pizza dough, baked potatoes.
Another dish I liked is the tandoori chicken. My friend and I were commenting it was the best tandoori chicken in Tucson. Honest. I often find tandoori chicken rubbery or tasteless but this dish was spiced right.
We also raved about the spicy garlicky fried cauliflower appetizer. On our first occasion, the dish was mild but the second time, the spiciness went up a notch. For people who are not cauliflower fans, this dish might change your mind.
Indian Twist has a lunch buffet every day from 11 am to 3 pm with generous choices for carnivores and vegans alike. Many of the dishes on the regular menu are vegetarian. The regular menu is available as well.
There’s a full bar with cleverly named cocktails like Hinduana Jones plus a few wines and beers and for me a non-alcoholic mango lassi. Cold and creamy compliments hot and spicy.
Accolades aside, the service is sporadic. If you’re on a lunch hour or having a great conversation, no problem, but the wait staff needs a few tips on making eye contact with the customers and bringing the naan to the table before the meal is almost over, however, I’m confident service will improve.
