Raise your hand if you have ever cleaned seeds? It might not be on your bucket list but you would be helping Native Seeds Search if you came out to help (volunteer) on Thursday September 8 from noon to 4 pm. Drop in; you need not stay for the entire time.
Seeds have been sown and now they need to be cleaned. It’s like your room; seeds don’t clean themselves. Lots of seeds to process: Mayo Kama Winter Squash, San Carlos Apache Devil’s Claw, Tarahumara Mustard, Magdelena Acelgas, and more.
Come to the Native Seeds Search Conservation Center and learn seed processing techniques. Kids are welcome but parental supervision is required.
You can also tour the NSS seed bank at 3584 E River Road, Tucson 85718, (north of Brandi Fenton Park and west of the Jewish Community Center). See you there.
Pop-up Event and Fundraiser
Tucson Hop Shop: Enjoy eight pours of locally brewed craft beer for $15. Take a walk around the Sculpture Garden, grab dinner from You Sly Dog AND Tucson Fat Noodle food trucks, and soak up the warm vinyl sounds from Wooden Tooth Records.
Where: Tucson Metal Arts Village, 3230 N. Dodge Blvd, Tucson 85716
What: Proceeds from the event go to Beads of Courage which provides arts-in-medicine programs for chronically ill children, helping them cope with their illnesses by recording and telling their personal stories of courage. There is no better reason to kick back and taste a few beers than this.
