Talk about an amazing race – this would be it — in Willcox, Tucson’s neighbor to the southeast where it’s a tad cooler too. What a fun event and the celebrity winner gets $1,000 for his or her favorite charity.

WILLCOX, Ariz. — Apple Annie’s, southern Arizona’s premier farm destination, will kick off the Pumpkin Celebration season with the 6th Annual Corn Maze Race to benefit charity on Saturday, September 26 at 10 AM. Local celebrity contestants will compete in a race for the fastest time through the newly-opened 12-acre corn maze — the largest in Arizona. The event marks the traditional opening of the corn maze and pumpkin-picking season. Apple Annie’s Orchard and Produce and Pumpkins are open daily through October 31.
The Corn Maze Race kicks off the 2015 Fall Pumpkin Celebration; guests can pick their own pumpkin from the overflowing pumpkin patch or choose from already-picked pumpkins at the farm stand. At the orchard location, visitors can indulge in the “All-You-Can-Eat” pumpkin and buttermilk pancake breakfast served from 8:30 – 10:30 AM as well as homemade pumpkin ice-cream, pumpkin pies, pumpkin bread and homemade cider donuts.
The contestant with the fastest race time will win $1,000 to be donated to the winner’s charity of choice. Meteorologist Erin Jordan of KOLD, the 2014 Corn Maze Race defending champion, will battle to retain the title.
Over the past 12 years, Apple Annie’s Corn Maze Race has generated more than $80,000 for various charitable organizations, including the March of Dimes, Humane Society, Haiti Rebuild and the American Cancer Society.
Apple Annie’s is celebrating 30 seasons of welcoming generations of southern Arizona families who seek an authentic farm experience with pick-your-own fruits and vegetables and other family activities.
