Stamp Out Hunger – May 9
While most people are thinking about where to dine on Mother’s Day (May 10), place a bag of non-perishable food by your mailbox (nationwide) and your postal person/letter carrier will pick it up and distribute to local food bank near you. Kudos to postal workers!

Grilled Cheese Winner
I guess the executive chef of Sauce didn’t like Circle of Food’s entry for Build Your Own Grilled Cheese contest because some lucky person from Phoenix won. The winning sandwich is “Moe’s Mushroom Melt” — creamy goat cheese, smoked mozzarella, roasted crimini mushrooms, tomatoes and arugula, all pressed with a spritz of truffle oil. The creator of this sandwich has a passion for helping children in need, so $1 from every sandwich sold will be donated to to Child Crisis Center and AASK – Aid to Adoption of Special Kids, from now through May 31.

Arepas @ Contigo

Contigo is closing May 17 and Bluefin on May 24. Wow! Two really good independent restaurants saying goodbye. We still have Bluefin’s sister restaurant, Kingfisher Bar & Grill. Contigo makes really distinctive pisco sour cocktails. Who else in Tucson can compare?
