It’s a marvelous night for a party, a celebration, a 5th anniversary celebration called A Cause for Applause. The applause is for Beading Divas to the Rescue who have raised $100,000 for animal charities mostly in Tucson and a few beyond.

It’s these beautiful one of a kind bracelets that raise the funds.

This fabulous party happens May 6 from 6 to 9 pm at La Cocina, located at 201 N. Court Ave in the Old Town Artisans Courtyard with its dazzling lights and cooling breezes.

There is no admission but guests are encouraged to eat and drink. Food first: The menu tries to keep it local with grass-fed beef and some veggies and herbs from nearby farms and gardens. Menu items satisfy carnivores, vegetarians, vegans and people with gluten intolerance. The culinary goal is hearty and healthy with something for everyone. My favorite is the Moroccan chicken salad with Sriracha, garlic, lime marinated chicken and spinach, almonds, orange curry vinaigrette, with a lemon, mint, cucumber quinoa — it’s a spicy dish just like me. Others rave about the lemongrass coconut curry with chicken or tofu; and turkey pozole served with corn tortillas. These are just a few of our favorite things.

As for the liquid refreshments, creamy milkshakes in awesome flavors plus craft cocktails, wine, and the tap rotates Arizona brews.

On this night of May 6, there will be live music by Daniel Terry and The Unday plus raffle drawings for 501 c3 non profit groups, prizes for people, and bracelets sales by the May fundraising recipient, No Kill Pima County.

So come on down. Eat. Drink. Be merry. Try to win some prizes. Network your charity. Buy bracelets. Have fun.
