Murphy-Goode Winery is donating a portion of wine proceeds to Operation Homefront. All funds raised will benefit Operation Homefront, the national nonprofit organization that provides emergency financial assistance to military families and wounded warriors. Murphy-Goode will collect a guaranteed minimum contribution of $200,000 and hopes to raise at least $300,000 for the organization.
According to the press release, “Homefront Red is a blended varietal, incorporating Syrah, Merlot, Petite Sirah and Zinfandel grapes. Its juicy black cherry and raspberry flavors are complemented by toasty vanilla notes, and each glass ends in a long finish, making for a food-friendly wine that pairs well with grilled dishes. A Goode wine for a Goode cause, Homefront Red is available nationwide wherever wine is sold.”
(Disclosure: The PR firm sent me a bottle but the opinions are my own.)
Now according to my wine palate — it’s lovely especially after being allowed to decant for 10 minutes. The flavor is silky with a medium bouquet rich in berries and a slight mocha aftertaste. It’s easy drinking yet complex. I have not paired it with food but choose to drink solo while relaxing.
I hope I’m wrong on this but according to this wine search website, the wine is not available anywhere in Arizona. You can find if the wine is available in your area or can order it through Murphy-Goode website.
