Here’s a few crumbs of what I saw around the web this past week:

Weight Loss in Drag
Hey guys – is your butt too big? Try as they might, Weight Watchers® commercials have never had the quirky humor and creativity of  those happy Target ads. Imagine paying thousands of dollars to advertise toilet paper? Women see no humor in losing weight. While Jennifer Hudson has made a dramatic change and I admire anyone who loses beaucoup weight (but most importantly keeps it off), do you think ex NBA star Charles Barkley in drag will encourage men to join a weight loss program? Me neither. Do real men wear push-up bras?

Attack of the Super Tomatoes
According to a study and experiment at the University of Arizona (here in Tucson), scientists are hoping that a super tomato with more lycopene is the wave of the future for more nutritious vegetables with more antioxidants and inflammation fighters. Watch the video. If you’re going to eat tomatoes, let them be super.

Eat Chocolate
This is super too. Here’s a study that says  people who eat moderate amounts of chocolate are thinner than those who don’t eat chocolate at all. What’s moderate? They recommend one square of dark chocolate (and I recommend having a small glass of red wine to drink) as cocoa (and wine) are rich in antioxidants called flavonoids, which help fight inflammation, lower blood pressure and improve overall vascular function. The antioxidants also affect metabolism and improve insulin sensitivity. No wonder I have such low blood pressure. The study also says you have to exercise. There’s always a catch.

Food Recalls – Sausage
Every day there was a few recalls including drug recalls. The FDA must be kept very busy.

Mar 31, 2012 – Eddy Packing Co., Inc., a Yoakum, Texas, establishment is recalling approximately 26,136 pounds of chicken apple sausage products that may contain foreign materials. The problem was discovered as a result of consumer complaints about finding pieces of plastic in the product.

Mar 26, 2012 – J Bar B Foods, a Waelder, Texas establishment, is recalling approximately 64,020 pounds of a smoked sausage product because it contains whey and casein, known allergens that are not declared on the label.

PB&J Day
April 2 is National Peanut Butter & Jelly Day – My mouth is watering already. I like raspberry jam with my toasted peanut butter sandwich. What about you?
