The ‘Fat Kid Guide’ to Thanksgiving

Contributed by Carl Germano

The holiday season of indulging in treats and fat filled snacks is underway. If you were lucky enough to avoid a sugar induced coma during Halloween your next difficult obstacle is Thanksgiving. While the Thanksgiving history started with the harvest celebration of the pilgrims and the Native Americans that took place in the autumn of 1621 over a three day feast, we have taken that feast and condensed it into a few hours.

Besides the food the holiday offers, it allows you to spend time with loves ones and friends. While this is all fun if you don’t mind some of the stereotypical awkward family moments, it also opens your mind to putting your diet aside and indulge in the festival.

Celebrity nutritionist Carl Germano RD, CNS, CDN has put together some information to help guide you through Turkey Day and will help you avoid some of the unhealthy choices during the holidays.
