Southern Arizona Nut Festival
The 2011 Sahuarita Pecan Festival hosted by the Green Valley Pecan Company happens Saturday November 12 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Discover a one-day event that showcases a vibrant Sahuarita and Green Valley community featuring a variety of regional food and pecan related dishes, local arts and crafts, exhibits, family-friendly activities, musical entertainment and more.
Here’s a list of the varied musical entertainment:
–Kicking off the food, fun and festivities will be the Walden Grove High School Marching Band who will rock you.
–Following the opening ceremony, Mariachi Cielo de Mexico will spice up the stage. This group features young and talented mariachi performers from all across Tucson.
–Heating up the afternoon stage will be Sahuarita’s own Jesus Lopez and local country favorite Kevin Pakulis. Performing separately and together, Lopez and Pakulis will have you out of your chair and onto the dance floor before the end of their first songs.
Lopez features blues-inspired hits with a unique blend of country and rock. Pakulis, winner of the Americana singer-songwriter award, shakes the stage with the raw energy of his edgy, guitar-driven hits like Yeah Yeah Yeah.
–Headlining this year’s Festival is the Tucson Weekly 2011 TAMMIE award winner for best local cover band, 80’s & Gentlemen! This rocking group has made its name bringing audiences across Tucson back to ‘the good old days’ with timeless hits from the 70’s and 80’s. 80’s & Gentlemen will take the stage at approximately 6 p.m.
Location: 1625 East Sahuarita Road, Sahuarita, AZ 85629 – just east of Nogales Highway on Sahuarita Road. The Festival will be held in the large area in front of the FICO/Green Valley Pecan processing plant and store.
