from the press release

Tucson, AZ— As one of their pre-opening events, the new Paradise Bakery & Café, located on Oracle and Wetmore (4362 N. Oracle Rd.), hosted a benefit luncheon on Sunday, September 11th.  In part to commemorate the Heroes of 9/11, the event was also a collaboration with the UMC Foundation to raise money for the UMC Level 1 Trauma Center.

More than $2,000 was raised at the luncheon where guests were treated to a delicious preview of what they will find at Paradise Bakery & Cafés which opened to the public on Tuesday, September 13.   They enjoyed a wide variety of offerings including outstanding sandwiches, soups, salads, breakfast fare, cookies, frozen drinks and more.

Dory Alison, the Market Manager for Paradise Bakery & Café said of the event, “We are always looking for ways to get involved and give back to the community; this event was just the beginning of Paradise’s involvement with the foundation and other non-profits throughout the community. ”

Richelle Litteer, Major Gifts Officer for the UMC Foundation said, “We count on relationships with community partners like the new Paradise Bakery to bring us much-needed funds to sustain our ongoing needs for the Trauma Center at UMC. Dory and his team work very hard to produce excellence in all they do and we are truly blessed to have them working with us as long-term supporters.”

Following the event, to the delight of the staff and patients, boxes of Paradise Bakery & Café signature cookies were delivered to Diamond Children’s Medical Center for all to share.

A second location of Paradise Bakery & Café is scheduled to open on Tucson’s eastside in February of 2012.
