Sunday August 21 is Senior Citizen Day. Rah! Rah!

I don’t mind being a senior citizen just hope that my Social Security and Medicare benefits will remain intact. And then there’s discounts on some airlines, car rentals, most movie theaters, a special day of the month to shop with greater discounts at some retail outlets and grocery stores. Growing old does have some advantages or so I hope as I’m always looking for a silver lining.

The Italian chain Buca di Beppo known for their southern Italian family-style over-sized portions and deliriously-cluttered restaurant decor will be giving senior citizens a slice of free cheesecake with purchase.

Probably the last thing a senior citizen needs after eating any pasta dish is a free slice of cheesecake. What about a free salad? Everything is a la carte. Fortunately, some items are gluten free too, ask for the special menu.

Here is the lasagna menu description: Nine towering layers of lasagna noodles stuffed with a savory combination of ricotta, mozzarella, provolone and Parmesan cheeses with plenty of chunky homemade meat sauce. (4 different cheeses!)  You can email them for nutritional information.

Almost every dish has a butter sauce or cream sauce and/or one, two, three different cheeses. Every meatball is a half pound or 8 ounces. Be still my aging heart. That’s why cardiologists get paid beaucoup bucks.
