I love Memorial Day Weekend!

First of all, it means the weather is getting nicer. Secondly, it means its right around my birthday. Third, it usually means a longer weekend off of work and last but most importantly it is a time to honor those who fought for our country and who brought honor to America.

With memorial day weekend always comes barbeque’s, parades and picnics with family and friends. I love helping prepare food for memorial day festivities, but my favorite thing to make it dessert which is funny because I am not even a big dessert eater. Last time I made a cake, I didn’t even get a chance to eat a piece of it before it was gone.lol

Anyways, here is a fun dessert idea to help celebrate the holiday.

1. Red, white and blue angel food cake

For this fun decorating, you can take a regular angel food cake (either made or bought) and add strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream on top for the perfect red, white and blue coloring. Also this dessert is very tasty because the cake is fluffy so the dessert is light and not overly fattening. (especially if you use a fat free cool whip to replace the whipped cream).
