Chocolate Bark

Two nights ago, my boyfriend Erik and I made chocolate bark. This has been a family tradition with my mom for years. I use to remember making it every year before Christmas to give to my teachers, neighbors, etc.. Now, I was excited to make it on my own for the holiday season.

I love this dessert because it is not only easy to make, but it is very tasty and enjoyable. To make this, all you need is chocolate chips for melting, pretzels and peanuts.

You first melt the chocolate in the microwave for a couple minutes. Make sure to check it a lot because if the chocolate burns, it will not turn out right. After the chocolate is melted, add broken up pretzel sticks and peanuts into the chocolate until it is the right consistency. If you like a lot of crunch, add more, and if you like a lot of chocolate, add less. Personally, I love all the favor so I add a lot of peanuts and pretzels.

Once this is all mixed, you simply have to pour onto a cookie sheet. Spread the layer of the chocolate mixture pretty thin to cover the pan. Place in the freezer or even your garage if it is cold for an hour or so. The chocolate will harden into a bark and all you have to do is break it up into pieces. It looks beautiful if placed in a Christmas tin and given to others.

For some alterations to the recipe, we use dark chocolate and white chocolate as well as the regular semi-sweet. If you do not like peanuts, I suggest using white chocolate and peppermint pieces to make peppermint bark. This is also wonderful as well.

When we were done making all the bark, I brought some home to my mom and she loved it! It then reminded her to make some!
