I love love love the Christmas season because I get to spend time with my family and friends, enjoy the break from school,  and get to bake a lot! I am not a huge sweets person but I love the opportunity to bake and make delicious treats for other people.

Last Wednesday, my friend Laura and I got together to bake Christmas cookies. We do this every year but I was not expecting such an extravagant selection of cookies.

By the time I got to her house, she had everything planned out and bought for our cooking excursion. The plan was to make Valencia orange cookies, mint chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, red velvet cookie with cream cheese frosting, chocolate covered cherries that look like mice, chocolate dipped oreos and chocolate covered pretzels.

We first started with the mint chocolate chip cookies, then kept making more and more varieties. The whole experience was a lot of fun and they all turned out beautiful.

Since part of the cookies were for my friend’s boyfriend, we went to Joann’s and got tins to put the cookies in. We then took thick paper and divided the tins so there were separate compartments for each type of cookie. The tins had clear tops so you could see all the different types of cookies within it. Then the stacking tins, getting progressively smaller, we tied with ribbon and made this wonderful creation.

I was very impressed at how well everything turned out and I even brought home a couple dozen cookies for my house. The other problem was I never even got to try one of the cookies I brought home because within 2 days, my dad and brother ate ALL of them…
