Quirk Books sent over a copy of “Recipes Every Man Should Know.” This is a little black book with all the basics laid out in a simple straightforward manner.
Written by Susan Russo and Brett Cohen, “Recipes” also covers the vocabulary, tools and techniques every guy read cook should know. There are even instructions on how to carve a turkey complete with illustrations.
Admittedly, there’s a bit of a tongue-in-cheek attitude behind this nifty little tome. The authors encourage men to cook because “1.Women think that men who cook are sexy. 2. It involves fire, sharp instruments and meat, and 3. Women think men who cook are sexy and it involves fire, sharp instruments and meat.” Some might consider it sexist, but the book is a great resource for anyone who wants to learn how to cook at home be they male or female and who can argue with that.
“Recipes Every Man Should Know” is published by Quirk Books, a small but prolific publishing company known for such titles as, “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” and “The Worst Case Scenario Handbook” series.
