Food Crafters
Pssst. The Cooking Channel TV was in Tucson today at the Tucson Tamale Co. The show airs sometime in November.    In case you’ve never been to Tucson Tamale Co., their tamales are lard-free and gluten-free and delicious. I particularly like the tamale salad.

Philanthropy with Phlavor
It’s October and that means (other than cooler temps I hope) Pastiche is once again giving a percentage of your dining check (less tax + tip) to local charities. Their generosity never ceases to amaze me.

47 Scott
My new favorite boite downtown has expanded next door to include a coffee bar by day and on the weekends, a bar bar. Very cool mixology called Scott & Co.

Feast moved into its newly built digs a few weeks ago. Kudos!  Originally, they said by the end of September. Nobody ever opens when they say they will but Feast did. I have yet to try the new joint but every time I drive by the parking lot is full at 3719 E. Speedway @ Dodge.

May’s Counter
Another restaurant just opened at 2945 E. Speedway, this time serving fried chicken and waffles and a full bar with valet parking on weekends. Check out their FB page – May’s Counter Chicken & Waffles.

In Limbo
DOWNTOWN KITCHEN & COCKTAILS and Elle Wine Bistro will be opening soon. Elle excited Broadway Village and is relocating on Campbell also know as restaurant row. Sushi Garden will be inhabiting the former Elle space. Who will inhabit the former Sushi Garden space?

The Abbey
JaxKitchen’s sister restaurant is also opening soon — this month or so they say but this month has 31 days so we’ll just have to wait and see. You can read my interview with Ginny Wooters, The Abbey’s executive chef here.
