Coming Soon: Downtown Kitchen & Bar

The Downtown Kitchen & Bar will be the name of Janos’ new restaurant which is coming September 2010 in what was formerly Barrio. I like the name; it has a catchy ring to it. Dining downtown is really shaping up and becoming a destination.

Update: Now open – 135 S. Sixth Avenue – Downtown, 623-7700, visit the website for the menu, etc.

Contigo Cocina

I can’t wait to try Contigo which is in the space that was formerly Coach Deli on River/Campbell. Tonight at CataVinos Wine Shoppe, a man named John sat at our table and raved about Contigo. He said dates stuffed with chorizo then wrapped in bacon were otherworldly.

Community Food Bank

Last Saturday’s leave-food-in-a-bag by your mailbox for Stamp Out Hunger Day raised 250,000 pounds of food for southeast Arizona’s hungry. Locally, 47,970 plastic and paper bags were recycled by Food City. What an amazing response from the community (that’s you), the letter carriers, and Food City.
