May 13 – Two of my favorite Tucson food and wine icons under one roof
Matt Russell will be broadcasting his hour-long “On the Menu Live” radio show (JKLL-AM 1330, 5 p.m.) live in the CataVinos Wine Shoppe, 3063 N Alvernon Way. Yvonne Foucher is a regular guest on this show. Janos Wilder of Janos Restaurant and JBar, another guest on this week’s show, will be serving some amazingly tasty finger foods to accompany Yvonne’s favorite wines, featured in the CataVinos weekly tasting.

May 16 is Yvonne Foucher’s birthday but I heard through the grapevine (pun not intended) that the celebrating starts Thursday May 13 and continues through Saturday May 15 with live music at CataVinos, a locally owned wine tasting store. It’s like “Cheers” but only with wine.

May 20 – Frog legs
Now there’s a menu item you don’t see every day. Dove Mountain Grill‘s May 20 wine dinner travels to the Rhone Valley in France (without leaving Marana) for a 3-course dinner with matching wines for $32/person + $13/optional wine pairing. You will dine on Fromager D’Affinois Fondue with En Croute with Golden Apples, Braised Frog Legs with new potato gratin Dauphinois, garlic tomato broth, and roasted rabbit shank, red cream sauce, Mirepoix. If you can’t go to France, this could be the next best thing.
