Tucson: Food, Wine, Art, Sushi, Pie, Blues, Rock & Stroll
Tucson restaurant happenings and more…
Every weekend seems more jam packed than the previous weekend. Let’s see what’s on the Tucson menu this weekend…
The word crush gives me a rush. Crush happens this Friday, April 9 at the Tucson Museum of Art. Get ready to get your grape on by sampling great foods from many Tucson upscale restaurants, 50+ wineries, as well as a silent art auction all in the lush TMA courtyard. Tickets are $65 in advance ($15 deductible) and $80 at the door. The who’s who and who wants to be of food, wine, and art will be there. Will you? Get the details
Wines and Breast Cancer Research
At CataVinos Wine Shoppe, taste wine from wineries that donate to breast cancer research on April 8, 9, and 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. In honor of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure you can drink wine for a great cause. Sample prosecco, chardonnay, viognier, cab/merlot/sangiovese blend, cab/syrah blend and a shiraz. In addition to tasting great wines, CataVinos will donate $1 from each tasting to the Susan G. Komen foundation. Wine tasting costs $10, or $8 if you buy a bottle of wine (a great deal).
SAACA to Me
Free: Oro Valley holds its 14th annual fine art & jazz festival on April 10 & 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. respectively. The venue, Cañada del Oro Riverfront Park, offers stunning views of the Santa Catalina Mountains and has easy-to-access walkways to and from the event area. Meet local artists, listen to live entertainment, get the kids involved in artsy stuff, and interact with retired rescued greyhounds looking for their forever homes.
Sushi for Kids
After wine and art and meeting greyhounds, you might want to slow down the pace and eat sushi that will benefit the Tucson Children Museum on April 10 at OM restaurant, Tucson’s newest restaurant concept.
I’m trying to rouse myself to make a pie. Nobody doesn’t like pie but will they like my pie? Take a big bite of out a grassroots fundraiser that is not pie in the sky. Enter the pie contest and then eat pie to raise money. There’s no entry fee, cool prizes for pie winners, $3/slice or $5 for 2 slices. Winner of pie contest can choose the grassroots charity to get the pie proceeds. Who doesn’t like pie democracy?
Blues & BBQ
After the race for the cure you probably want to treat yourself to zin, blues, and BBQ at Hacienda Del Sol.
Maynards Rock & Stroll
Then after a weekend of debaucherous food and wine…on Monday April 12 from 4:30 to ??? you’re going to want to go to Maynards for a two, three, or four mile walk or run to celebrate Rock & Stroll, a one year anniversary of Meet Me at Maynards. Walk or run, listen to 15 live bands scattered throughout the downtown area, get drink specials at participating venues along the way. Feel good about celebrating downtown. Get your feet moving…
As for me, I’ll be out there…What event/s will you be doing?
