Tucson presents Bollywood at the Fox Theatre

Bollywood at the Fox Theatre

Tucson, Ariz—Everyone’s favorite street scene, Bollywood at The Fox, is returning to the Fox Theatre!

The joyous celebration of Indian culture and culinary delights will begin on the street in front of the Fox Theatre at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 17.

Event founder Neelam Sethi was persuaded to reprise the popular event, last held in 2008, because of a desire to provide underwriting for children’s programs at the Fox.  “The arts are such a fundamental need for our children, they provide the spirit and joy of life that is so needed in our world today.  I am most pleased to be able to share my beautiful Indian heritage with our community to help fulfill that need” said Neelam.

In preparation for the event over the past year, Neelam has acquired quite a collection of authentic Indian party favors for the event on her frequent trips to India to see family.

The evening’s activities includes the Mela (Indian for street party) featuring fabulous food catered by Mintu Sareen of Saffron Indian Bistro, Indian soft drinks courtesy of India Dukaan and India Food and Gifts (KZ: the owner of this store is very nice and helpful), bangles, bindis ( body gems), henna (beautiful hand drawn skin decorations), Bollywood music and dancing and a movie.

The screening of Monsoon Wedding, one of the most visually beautiful movies to come out of India, will begin at 7 p.m. The charming family drama about a very chaotic Indian wedding gained rave reviews when it was released in 2001 (KZ: I loved that movie!). It is the most entertaining story of a stressed father, a bride-to-be with a secret, a smitten event planner, and relatives from around the world who create much ado about the preparations for an arranged marriage in India.

Tickets are $50 per person for Orchestra Level seating; $100 per person for VIP Balcony seating or $250 per couple for limited VIP Loge seating and can be purchased by calling the box office at 520-547-3040, or on the website.

Bollywood at the Fox is sponsored by TMC, HSL Properties and UMC. Additional sponsorship opportunities are still available.  For information please contact AZsethi@aol.com.
