    I have low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and was originally told that I should follow the same guidelines as diabetics do with regards to sugars, etc. Over the year’s I’ve found that the substitutes (even the so-called good ones) cause more harm than if I eat like a normal human being (i.e. regular sugar).

  2. You might also try agave nectar which is a low glycemic sweetener made from the agave plant. I guess what doesn’t go toward tequila goes toward sweetener.

    A little agave nectar goes a long way. For instance I was looking at a recipe that called for 1/2 cup sugar or 1/4 cup agave nectar.

    Agave nectar is more expensive though than sugar.

    I sprinkle a bit of sugar on stuff now and then and also some honey in tea when I want a treat. It satisfies.

  3. Didn’t know agave nectar was low-glycemic, good to know. I have some and use it occasionally in tea or cocktails 🙂
