Tacos Tasting
Zivaz is always so creative. From Jan. 21-23 you can have your choice of three different tacos for $12. These aren’t just any tacos either – think steak with chile verde, duck l’orange with red cabbage, Cuban pork with plantains (OMG!), crispy shrimp, and two veggie options. Yum.

Tequila Tasting
Starr Pass Resort has weekly Saturday tequila tasting. Check out my buddy Ryan’s Examiner.com page for the specifics. Salud!

Originals Rewards
The Tucson Originals are pleased to announce the launch of their new Rewards Card Program. Incoming board president Pat Connors, owner of Pastiche Modern Eatery thinks this is going to be a great deal for everyone, “What a way to start off the New Year – our guests get rewarded for their loyalty, and our members benefit by increased patronage. I encourage everyone to go to your favorite Tucson Original member restaurant, sign up for your card and start eating!”

Card holders will receive a reward point for each dollar spent at a Tucson Originals restaurant. For every 150 points accrued, the card holder gets a $10 credit on their card that can be used any Original member restaurant for up to 50% of their dining bill (not including tax and gratuity and not applicable towards catering or gift card purchases).  The points never expire and may be used anytime throughout the year.

New Eastside Farmers Markets
Park Place Mall launched a Tuesday farmers market on Jan. 12 and starting Friday  Jan. 29, Udall Park will be host a second location.

  1. After I posted that message I couldn’t get the taco tasting out of my mind so went to Zivaz for an early dinner. If you’re on the Zivaz email, you received a $2 off coupon and that always helps.

I order 3 tacos — duck l’orange with red cabbage, grilled portabello mushrooms & peppers, and the Cuban pork. The tacos were small but still I left food on my plate. The duck was perfectly caramelized, the mushrooms tasted meaty, and pork melted in my mouth.

Poblano rice and beans in a broth served in a bowl rounded out the meal — an exquisite one to boot. Judging by how many people were filing in the door, everyone must’ve read their email too.

Check it out. The taco tasting is through Jan. 23.
