Krispy Kreme East
Krispy Kreme opens today across from Park Place Mall at 5775 E. Broadway Blvd in the former Waverly Coffee drive thru. Krispy Kreme went out of business  a few years ago in Tucson but Doughnut Dan brought them back. The Broadway store will be Doughnut Dan’s tenth Arizona Krispy Kreme, which includes eight neighborhood and two factory stores. It will be open seven days a week from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The menu will offer 15 varieties of doughnuts, including Krispy Kreme’s signature original glazed doughnut. The store will also offer Krispy Kreme’s signature coffee line that features two drip coffees for only 25 cents; I like their coffee. The store will also feature 99 cents specialty coffee drinks as well as a variety of Shamrock Farms milk.

Cuvee Bistro in Bon Appetit
In the January 2010 issue BA: “Dear Bon Appetit, my new favorite restaurant in Tucson is Cuvee World Bistro. The wild mushroom cakes are absolutely fabulous.”  Charlene from Scottsdale is asking for the recipe. Yes, the mushroom cakes were fabulous as was the house made potato chips. Cuvee Bistro has been closed for almost a year.

Giving to Primavera Foundation
There is such great need this holiday season, consider giving basic necessities to Primavera. Gifts of all kinds are needed for teens and children and women and men.

Practical items are most important right now, we are trying to put a hygiene pack together for each participant, in addition to their gift, which will including the following:

  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Travel size shampoo, conditioner
  • Washcloth
  • Bar of soap
  • 1 or 2 disposable razors
  • Deodorant

Any fun items that can be added to gifts are great too: stocking stuffers, holiday candy, decks of cards or other portable games, journals, etc.

Food-wise, consider giving a few more turkeys and hams, gravy, butter, coffee, and stuffing for the men’s shelter meal on the Dec. 24 at 4 p.m.  Also Fry’s gift cards and baked goods are needed.

    1. Actually the recipe is in the January issue 2010. Bon Appetit must have a backlog and didn’t fact check to see if the restaurant was still open. Now the whole world has the recipe too or at least readers of BA.
