For two years in a row, I have gone to the tequila tasting and this event is an absolute blast.

The 2009 Tucson Culinary Festival is pleased to announce Milagro Tequila® as title sponsor of the World Margarita Championship, the opening festival event held on October 1 to 4 at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort and Maynards Market & Kitchen.

The 4th Annual Milagro Tequila® World Margarita Championship will take place on Thursday, October 1 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on the patio of Maynards Market and Kitchen at the downtown historic Train Depot (400 N. Toole Ave).  The championship features a spirited competition among a select group of nine outstanding Tucson Originals mixologists.

Guests to the Milagro Tequila® World Margarita Championship have the opportunity to sample, sip, and vote for their favorite traditional margarita and to select the winner of the People’s Choice Award. A panel of guest judges will choose which margarita deserves  the title of Worlds Best Margarita. Admission to the event is $35 per person.

On day two, Friday, October 2, Milagro Mixologist Gaston Martinez and Maynards Market and Kitchen Executive Chef Addam Buzzalini will team up for a fabulous tequila luncheon.  Guests will learn about tequila secrets and about the barrel aging that sets Milagro apart from the rest. This new Tucson Culinary Festival event will include a cocktail reception with passed appetizers, tasting of six marks of Milagro and a two-course luncheon (entrée and dessert) created by Chef Buzzalini to pair with Milagro tequilas. The luncheon will be held from noon to 2:30 pm in the Drawing Room (upstairs private dining room at Maynards).  Seating is limited to 35 attendees. Reservations can be made by calling 520.545.0577. Cost is $50 per person (tax not included).

Milagro Tequila® is featured at several events throughout the weekend including the Reserve Tasting, where guests will have the opportunity to meet with and learn from Milagro’s Gaston Martinez.

A portion of the proceeds from the 2009 Tucson Culinary Festival will benefit New Beginnings for Women and Children and the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation.
