Even though the temperature has been 100-plus degrees for the past 21 days, there doesn’t seem to be any slowdown of what’s happening restaurant-wise in Tucson. Some like it hot…

Fiesta de la Musica
El Charro Café has a new Fiesta de la Musica live music series featuring live music every weekend (Friday through Sunday) at El Charro located at 7725 N. Oracle Road. The series will expand over the new few months to include all locations. Call 299-1022 for details.

J Bar Live Music – July 30
The Kevin Pakulis Band is all about solid songwriting and great musicianship. Their music is often referred to as Americana, the no man’s land where the lines between rock, blues and country disappear with strong originals and tasty covers, played hot or sweet tonight from sunset to 10 p.m.

Cocktail Scholarship-corrected
Congratulations to Ciaran Donal, head bartender and beverage director at Barrio Food & Drink who was selected as one of 27 apprentices for the “Trails of the Cocktail” Apprentice Program Scholarship at the 2009 Tales of the Cocktail event in New Orleans on July 10. $1 Shrimp Night

Save August 20
The 4th Avenue tunnel goes live along with the first trolley once again connecting 4th Avenue with downtown which should be a boom to both retail and restaurant areas. The ribbon cutting is at 4 p.m. More info coming soon.
