Support the Arts-Tuesday at Pastiche
Taste more than a dozen wines while sampling some light finger foods all for a good cause. Come on down for $15 in advance or $20 at the door. $5 will be donated to the non-profit theatre of your choice. It all happens June 9 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Support the local theatre arts as well as Pastiche.
Market Graze Fest
On Thursday, June 11 from 4-7 p.m. learn about environmentally sustainable ranching practices from local rancher and owner of the Jojobo Beef Company and sample free-range beef raised in Southern Arizona at the Santa Cruz Farmers Market located at the NE corner of Speedway and Riverview, between AZ School for the Deaf and Blind and El Rio Neighborhood Center. Rah Rah to RA Sushi
Arizona-based RA Sushi Bar Restaurants held a fundraiser for St. Jude’s Children Hospital in all of its 22 locations from May 24 through 30. The fifth annual “Nicky’s Week” fundraiser raised $156,334. The Tucson location raised nearly $6,000 for the cause.
RA Sushi has raised more than half a million dollars for the children’s hospital since initiating Nicky’s Week in 2005, and far exceeded the 2009 goal of $110,000.
The weeklong fundraiser was developed in memory of longtime St. Jude patient Nicholas “Nicky” Mailliard who lost a long battle with brain cancer in February 2005. The nephew of RA Sushi Co-Founder Rich Howland, Nicky held a special place in the hearts of RA associates throughout the organization. The restaurant developed this annual benefit in honor of Nicky and as a way to further promote the exceptional support provided to all families with children receiving care at St. Jude.
