Cool Fruit Treats for Kids

Do you have a difficult time getting your kids to eat fruit? Fruit is my favorite food group but then again, I’m not a kid.

Del Monte asked Circle of Food if we wanted to sample Fruit Chillers Freeze-and-Eat Tubes and I thought — sure. Del Monte Fruit Chillers Tubes are a new frozen sorbet treat made from real fruit and are a rich source of vitamin C (so says the package). Look Mom, Fruit TubesWhat I liked about these tubular treats is the lack of high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors. They still have sugar but are only 1 point on Weight Watchers and are a reasonable 55 calories.

However, I wanted some real hard-to-please critics so I shared with my neighbor’s kids ages 10, 7, and 5. The 5-year-old Dora Explorer wannabe liked the strawberry snow storm and the two older boys opted for grape berry blizzard. The tubes were a hit for the what-me-eat-fruit crowd.

I preferred the strawberry.

You can find them in the grocery store in the canned fruit aisle. Take ’em home and pop into the freezer overnight or several hours and voila! They freeze and are a flavorful lick on a stick…without the stick.

And yes, they have real fruit in them. I think both parents and kids alike will enjoy the colorful packaging and the convenient serving size. Best of all, there’s no mess. Each box of eight is $2.89.
