Where Local and Global Appetites Collide

Tucson Restaurants: Gelato, Music, Mussel Madness

more Tucson restaurant news

New: Café Italiano
Café Italiano is new (7 weeks old) on the NW corner of Grant/Swan (2485 N. Swan Road #141). It was formerly Fratelli’s gelato lounge. It’s still a gelato lounge that also serves sorbetto and espresso too. The gelato flavors seem different than Fratelli’s and better too.

I ordered the lemon crème and café espresso flavors while my friend ate spicy chocolate and wild cherry. It all tasted so good. The spicy chocolate made me crave Janos’ chocolate jalapeno sundae. The Café is locally owned by Carla, Crystal, and David. They even have a frequent buyer card. I’ll be back! Soon Vero Amore will be selling their gelato for dessert too.

Music in the Foothills
The foothills are alive with the sound of music on Sunday nights at Hacienda Del Sol. Beginning in June, more music more often will be featured from Thursday through Sunday evenings. The majority of the acts – a combination of local and international distinction – will perform at 7 p.m. on the patio of The Grill.

On Sunday June 7, 14, and 21, Conner Cecil willl perform. A native of Globe, Ariz, Conner Cecil has expanded his musicianship to Tucson with the release of his 2008 debut album “Conner” and was a finalist to perform the opening act at the Last Smash Platinum Bash before headliners Jay Z and Kelly Clarkson. Cecil’s amiable on-stage presence and country-pop twang makes for an enjoyable evening.
