Where Local and Global Appetites Collide

Spring Time Strawberry Shortcake

Say you are having a party and need something cute but simple for dessert. Individual Strawberry Shortcakes are the perfect solution. They not only look cute, but they are relatively cheap and quick to make.

The easiest way to make them is using the individual dessert shells. They are usually one to two dollars at the grocery store, come in packs of six, and are similar to a shortcake or angel food cake. They are also zero fat grams, and low calories. On top of this mini cake, you put strawberries and whipped cream. For the strawberries, cut them ahead of time, add some zero calorie sweetener, and water and put them in a container in the fridge. An hour or so later, the strawberries are sweet and a perfect topping for the cake. Lastly, for the whipped cream, use a fat free whip and top the cake.

This dessert provides something very healthy, quick, and cheap. To spice it up, you can also add different fruits or other toppings. I suggest you try this recipe and enjoy it!

  1. If I’m not mistaken, the fat-free whipped topping (like Cool Whip) has high-fructose corn syrup in it. I’ve stopped eating it Something to consider.
