Closed – Grande Tortilla Factory
After almost 62 years, the Grande Tortilla Factory on Grande Avenue closed. Read the story.
Closed – Local Harvest Marketplace
After 5 short months, Local Harvest Marketplace located on Speedway just east of Alvernon Way, closed. In this article and past articles, it noted that the owner didn’t have a business plan in place when he opened the store. The owner also owns a successful wholesale produce business in Rio Rico. You have to wonder why no business plan for a neighborhood green grocer? I question the choice of location. The Marketplace is halfway between Whole Foods and Sunflower Market. Many community members and neighbors rallied around him but it was too little, too late. I’m sorry that they never got their groove on because it was a cool little store to run in and pick up fresh pressed organic grapefruit juice and a few other items.
Three Buck Chuck
Hey, did you know that the Charles Shaw wine sold exclusively in Trader Joe’s has been $3 since 2002 (in Arizona) but in California, it is the famous Two Buck Chuck? I swear, it must be the only product in Trader Joe’s where the price has not gone up in all these years. Trader Joe’s has a new website with a great timeline (TJ is 42 years old) and a map of locations. I had no idea they were in Georgia, North Carolina, and Missouri. Family members keep waiting for them to come to Florida and that can’t be too far behind.
Forget about cooking Passover seder and Easter dinner. Feast will do that for you, but you must call ahead. Peruse the menus.
