We live in America, so when I think of eating food I assume it to be safe. But this is not always the case. I’m sure almost everyone has heard of the salmonella problems in peanut butter, but could anyone expect this? Recently, it has been recorded that 5 people have died and over 500 people sick from the peanut butter. Now, I know peanut butter is a big item, but think of how many other items it affects. Without even looking up anything, I can think of Reese’s, peanut butter crackers, peanut butter cookies and more. With this scare and so many people sick, we need to be careful about our foods we eat; whether or not we think we are ok.
I know a few of my friends say that they will take their chances with the peanut butter, but honestly, do you want to risk your life simply because you are craving a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? I definitely would not… I just hope everyone is careful with the scare, and don’t take it as a joke.
And something sad, please inform others about this. I just assumed everyone knew and was talking to one of my friends about it… she didn’t know and had been eating it the whole week. I know your chances aren’t high but still. Be careful and hopefully everything will be fine in a few days.
