Coldstone Creamery Ice Cream

“I Scream for Ice Cream!”…

A popular slogan said by many kids growing up. I love ice cream, most people do, but what ice cream can I afford to eat without loads of fat, sugar, and calories.
Looking at recent Coldstone Creamery Ice Cream nutrition information on a pamphlet, I read the facts and was shocked. For example, one of the popular flavors, Cake Batter, in the gotta love it size, has 980 CALORIES, AND 54 FAT GRAMS. And that is before kids put in additional “mix-ins”, like m&m’s and sprinkles. Based on a normal 2000 calorie diet, ½ goes to one ice cream. ½, and we are consuming this….
On the other hand, a healthier option is Edy’s Slow Churned Light ice cream with less fat and calories. This ice cream is still very tasty and comes in numerous flavors but only with the fraction of the fat. This ice cream has 120 calories and 4.5 grams of fat per ½ cup serving. Based on a normal 2000 calorie diet, about 1/17 goes to the ice cream.
Both are tasty, so wouldn’t you rather be eating the healthier one? I would!

  1. I hadnt been to Coldstone for a long time, and recently just had some. I got a small cup of that “Cake Batter” flavored ice cream. It WAS good, so creamy and tasted JUST like vanilla cake batter, but as I was eating it I do remember wondering what the calorie and fat counts were. Now I know! I won’t order that one again. I also usually check the preservatives in product first too, since i have sensitivities to many preservatives … but for some reason I didn’t… . bad mistake, I had a horrrrible allergen attack due to my body reacting to the preservatives in it! I only ate half the cup .. but it hit me hard. I got home SOO tired and went to bed I could feel my throat tighentening up on me etc.. I had a Benedryl so I took that and slept for 2 hrs. . UGH those preservatives really made me feel awful! I usually check ingredients.. but I didn’t that time, and sorry I didn’t!
