“I Scream for Ice Cream!”…
A popular slogan said by many kids growing up. I love ice cream, most people do, but what ice cream can I afford to eat without loads of fat, sugar, and calories.
Looking at recent Coldstone Creamery Ice Cream nutrition information on a pamphlet, I read the facts and was shocked. For example, one of the popular flavors, Cake Batter, in the gotta love it size, has 980 CALORIES, AND 54 FAT GRAMS. And that is before kids put in additional “mix-ins”, like m&m’s and sprinkles. Based on a normal 2000 calorie diet, ½ goes to one ice cream. ½, and we are consuming this….
On the other hand, a healthier option is Edy’s Slow Churned Light ice cream with less fat and calories. This ice cream is still very tasty and comes in numerous flavors but only with the fraction of the fat. This ice cream has 120 calories and 4.5 grams of fat per ½ cup serving. Based on a normal 2000 calorie diet, about 1/17 goes to the ice cream.
Both are tasty, so wouldn’t you rather be eating the healthier one? I would!
