Where Local and Global Appetites Collide

Cookbook Review: Eat, Shrink, Be Merry

Here are two sisters — Janet and Greta Podleski who devote their lives to writing about “great tasting food that won’t go from your lips to your hips.”

The book – Eat, Shrink & Be Merry, has over 190 pages of mouth watering cooking tips, cartoons, pop quizines, factoids, and recipes.

You must have a corny sense of humor to appreciate the book.

Recipes have funny titles like ‘chicken littles, tartlett O’Hara, sealed with a quiche, fromage a trois, and tuskinny chicken” are among the few.

The sisters claim to have spent two years sacrificing their social lives and driving each other crazy. Talk about a labor of love…

Really, it’s all about portion control.  Every recipe is broken down by calories, fat grams, protein, carbs, and sodium so that covers a lot of bases for people counting something or other.

They have been on Food Network and wrote two previous books, Looneyspoons and Crazy Plates.

If you’re going to diet and watch your weight, you may as well do it with a smile on your face.

The last page veers deliriously off course and provides a recipe for died and gone to heaven chocolate layer cake.

RIP “rest in piece”
