Where Local and Global Appetites Collide

100 calorie snack packs

I don’t know about you, but whenever I am hungry and looking for a snack, it’s hard to find something I am in the mood for. Obviously, fruit is a good option, along with vegetables or what not, but sometimes, that just doesn’t sound good. I know they have always had 100 calorie snack packs, but the variety in the store now is amazing. I went the other day to get some food, and found out besides the chips and pretzels now; they have cookies, candy and other snacks for 100 calories. This can’t always be your snack, but especially when you want chocolate or candy, a 100 calorie snack is just the treat!

  1. When you have a craving, listen to your body. It is trying to tell you something. Are you suddenly hungry or do you have a sudden drop in energy? Perhaps you are experiencing a drop from a sugar high.

You don’t have to have eaten a candy bar to get this. There is hidden sugar in lots of foods like “white bread, white potatoes, pretzels, etc”.

You won’t experience such dramatic drops and get cravings if you eat whole grain foods and get your sugars from natural foods like fruit, as you mention.

100-calorie snacks are a marketing gimmick. Yes, 100-calories is 100-calories, whether it is a candy bar or a piece of fruit. But if you make the right choice, you won’t be on a constant roller coaster of highs and lows.
