Gather, the social network with substance for the over-30 crowd, and Butterball®, America’s No. 1 brand of turkey, are working together to bring the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line® experts to the popular social networking site.
A live chat is scheduled for Wednesday, November 26 from 1 to 2 p.m. EST. The live chat makes it easier than ever for cooks to ask last-minute questions of the Turkey Talk-Line experts, as well as learn the latest and greatest tips for preparing a tender and juicy turkey. Ten live chat participants will be randomly selected to receive a $15 Butterball Turkey gift check.
In addition to the Gather live chat, Butterball will award $15 Turkey gift checks to 15 Gather members who submit “Think Outside the Turkey” holiday side-dish recipes. All “Think Outside the Turkey” side-dish recipes submitted to Gather’s Food Essential Group between November 19 and November 25 will be automatically entered into a drawing. Winners will be notified during the live chat on November 26.
Mary Clingman, director of the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line, will lead the live chat along with well-known mommy blogger Susan Wagner, author of “Friday Playdate” and first-year Butterball Turkey Talk-Line blogger.
“Over the years, the Turkey Talk-Line has helped families celebrate their most memorable occasions,” said Bill Klump, Senior Vice President of Marketing. “This year, we have made the Turkey Talk-Line accessible anytime, any place consumers need it with turkey text messages, a mobile Butterball.com site and of course, 1-800-BUTTERBALL. We’re excited to participate in the live chat with Gather to share our turkey tips and cooking advice.”
“Gather has the best conversations online and we are thrilled to work with Butterball, the authority on Thanksgiving,” said Tom Gerace, founder and CEO of Gather. “We believe that the Butterball experts’ participation on the site will not only enrich our community, it will provide an exciting opportunity for Butterball to extend its Turkey Talk-Line availability.”
If you cannot make this chat, there are 50+ Butterball Turkey staff members who have the resources to answer questions from either English or Spanish-speaking callers, as well as respond to questions via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
While I think this is a great idea, I think the chat should be on the Monday before Thanksgiving not the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. If you wait until the last minute to buy a turkey (like I did 6 years ago) I had to settle for a roast chicken with all the Thanksgiving fixings. Three nearby grocers had run out of turkeys and I didn’t feel like driving to the westside to try my luck. Also buying a turkey last minute may not have enough defrost time but that’s a good question to ask.
However, there are some awesome photos of greyhounds on this site so by all means gather! The state of Mass. just banned greyhound racing by the year 2010 so there are many greyhounds that will need loving homes. Go Gather! Go Greyhounds!
