Tomato Salmonella Victims Continues to Rise

So far there have been 383 documented cases for tomato salmonella. The earliest known victim was on April 10.

Tomatoes are difficult to trace because they’re sold without tags and are usually eaten by the time anyone gets sick.

The FDA asked Mexican health authorities to check whether they have any cases of this exact strain of tomato salmonella Saintpaul.

Since new states are added, it’s probably best NOT to eat raw red plum, raw red Roma (my favorite) and raw red round (campari) tomatoes. So far grape tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and tomatoes still attached to the vine are safe to eat.

A woman in New Jersey was just added to the tomato salmonella list. New cases continue to roll in.
