Where Local and Global Appetites Collide

Curtis Stone, Organic Chocolate, Recipe Contest

Chocolate lovers and home chefs across the United States are invited to showcase their love of organic chocolate by submitting an original five ingredient or less recipe that incorporates at least 2 ounces of Green & Black’s chocolate, a photo of their prepared dish, an essay on their growing taste for organic, and how their recipe wows family and friends.

Submit all the above for a chance to win a cooking session with Curtis Stone, host of the Take Home Chef, which appears on TLC.

Five winners will receive a cooking session with Curtis in New York City, starting with a shopping adventure at gourmet New York City markets in search of fresh, organic ingredients and ending by enjoying their delicious meal together. Winners will also receive tickets to the James Beard Foundation Awards, the Oscars of the food industry.

With similar philosophies and passions for using the best ingredients, Green & Black’s and Curtis Stone are encouraging home chefs to heat up their kitchens with organic and natural ingredients. Curtis will share tips designed to inspire people to create their own 5-ingredient or less organic recipes on the Green & Black’s Web site through April 21, 2008.
In addition to getting a chance to win a cooking session with Curtis Stone and tickets to the James Beard Foundation Awards, Green & Black’s Chocolate Challenge entrants will help cocoa farmers in Belize. For each valid entry received, Green & Black’s will build on its existing relationship with the Toledo Cacao Growers’ Association in Belize by supplying the members of its cooperative with funds to plant and grow to maturity one hardwood tree.

These hardwood trees, as part of a reinvestment in the indigenous rainforest, will help provide the necessary shade to shelter the farmers’ cocoa trees and allow them to thrive, providing greater economic opportunities for these farmers in Belize.

I took one bite of this wonderful cupcake and I was in heaven. I have never eaten chocolate like this in my entire life.

Everyday, I think about this chocolate and I wish I have the woman’s creativity. I even was the first person to decorate the chocolate cupcake with the lovely white frosting. I love chocolate. U

  5. Dear Curtis,

After having an organic garden for years and believing strongly in eating healthy, I find creative ways to alter recipes to make them healthier. That said, my “Linnea’s Chocolate Chip Pancakes” have 7 ingredients…thus don’t qualify. My “Marzipan Truffles” however, are highly caloric but fit the requirements. There does not seem to be a place to upload the picture here (required), or the cut off date or that would have been submitted. Any suggestions? My neighbors and friends are anxious for me to submit that so they can enjoy the finished product…yum!!!

My mother came over from Sweden and instilled the value of eating organic, taking care of ourselves, loving nature and enjoying life. She lived “green” long before it became a Hollywood fad. We highly respect nature and coincide our care for it to insure that it is preserved and nurtured. Tsunami’s, mud slides, weeds, destructive bugs, etc. are all part of “nature” and so we have to work around those things to create the ultimate enjoyable experience of dwelling amongst the various forms of nature.

Well I live in CT…a stones throw from New York. Winning this contest would allow me to visit New York and Cutis and spend time with my wonderful friends.

Thank you for this opportunity. Dawn Brainerd
