Where Local and Global Appetites Collide

Raising Your Glass to Good Health

I remember when I was a kid, my father would drink some schnapps if he had a chill and he lived a very robust life.

Many a time when I used to get much sicker than I’ve gotten in recent years, I would make myself a steaming mug of tea, lace it with honey, and add some brandy or sherry for good measure.

Did it help? Probably not but it certainly made me feel more relaxed and I slept better.

An article in today’s New York Times poses the question, can alcohol cure the common cold. In your dreams.

But the article does go on to say that once again moderate drinking like red wine does keep you healthier.

I’ll drink to that…pass the shiraz, please.
