Where Local and Global Appetites Collide

Next Iron Chef: 1st class meal-Airbus A 380

On Sunday, October 21, Gavin Kaysen (Executive Chef, El Bizcocho at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, San Diego, CA) and Morou Ouattara (Executive Chef, Farrah Olivia, Alexandria, VA) became the third and fourth chefs to be eliminated from the The Next Iron Chef — Food Network’s new reality series that will award one chef the world’s most coveted culinary title: Iron Chef.

While he will not be the Next Iron Chef, Kaysen will soon be taking on another honor: as of November 4, he will assume the position of Executive Chef of New York’s famed Cafe Boulud. Chef Morou will return to his critically acclaimed restaurant Farrah Olivia, where he serves his American with an accent cuisine.

Tune-in this Sunday, October 28 at 9 pm ET/PT, as the remaining four chefs learn that they will be traveling overseas with international air carrier Lufthansa to Germany for this week’s challenge. After arriving in Munich, host Alton Brown reveals their next test: Create Under Pressure.

At Munich airport the chefs are taken to Lufthansa’s catering facilities, LSG Sky Chefs, where they learn that their next challenge is to create the ultimate first class meal for passengers that will be flying on the airline’s new Airbus A 380, a modern luxury double-decker plane.

Then, the judges eliminate another chef.

The Next Iron Chef takes the contestants from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY to Europe – with the help of international airline Lufthansa – to compete in the food fight of their professional lives. Over the course of the show, the judges – Michael Ruhlman (James Beard Foundation Award-winning author, cookbook author and food writer),  Andrew Knowlton (Restaurant Editor of Bon Appetit magazine) and Donatella Arpaia (restaurateur and owner of acclaimed New York City restaurants David Burke & Donatella and Anthos) ask the chefs to demonstrate a wide variety of skills to see who will become the last chef standing.

The winner will be revealed during the series’ finale on Sunday, November 11, at 9 pm ET/PT and will begin their reign as Iron Chef in a special Thanksgiving-themed episode of Iron Chef America on Sunday, November 18, 2007. The Next Iron Chef is produced by Triage Entertainment in conjunction with Food Network and is based partially on the format Iron Chef owned by Fuji Television Network, Inc.
